Went on a fishing trip with some new friends. Left the house at 5:30 AM with all my fly fishing gear and a cooler full of food. We drove all the way out to Lake Canyon Lake. Lake Canyon Lake is a fairly remote, small lake, located up Lake Canyon in Duchesne County. Besides providing anglers with good fishing opportunities in a beautiful setting, Lake Canyon Lake is utilized by the UDWR as a brood stock lake for Colorado River cutthroat trout. The other fish is tiger trout!
There were 4 of us in the group and we all were able to catch some decent sized cutthroat trout. The fish were rising between 8 AM and noon. After about 2 PM the fish moved away from shore. Pretty sure they would have been back feeding if we stuck around after 5 PM. On our drive back, we explored the Currant Creek area and were able to drive all the way up to the dam. The fishing was slower up here, but still worth a cast or two. I got home at 9:30 PM. Sixteen hours of traveling and fishing made for an extremely long day!
