Earlier this week we tried on alpine touring boots for 2+ hours. Not a single boot felt good, so we’ve abandoned the goal of doing serious alpine touring. After spending the morning getting outfitted for XC skiing, we went up to Guardsman Pass and snowshoed. Had to wait for Backcountry to put the bindings on our skis. It was sunny, warm and gorgeous unlike the valley. We are having HORRIBLE inversion pollution right now. Even though the traffic was at a stand still trying to park for Brighton Ski Resort, the parking lot for Guardsman pass wasn’t too bad. It got worse later in the day, but as long as you are up there before noon it’s good. Definitely need to come up again and actually make it all the way to the pass.
