When you have a strangely cold and sunny day in July, you call in sick and take advantage! We’ve been wanting to hike along the Wasatch Crest Trail starting at Guardsman Pass, but knew it had to be cooler weather to enjoy the hike. We woke up today and the temperature at the trailhead was 35ºF. Last time I checked that was cold enough weather to make for a pleasant hike, so we went for it. The hike is awesome no matter how many miles you choose to do, we did 6 and stopped right at the turn off to go down to Desolation Lake. I really didn’t want to hike down to the lake and back up, so we just sat above and enjoyed the view. When we got back to the car around 3PM, the temperature had only made it up to 55ºF. It was a great trail and a perfect day!
