What a difference a few years can make. This is our third autumn in Utah and it is so nice that we have the time and energy to get out and hike and backpack. Because the weather was better than perfect, we went for an overnight trip to Ibantik Lake. It was sunny and clear; the high was about 55ºF and it dipped down in the 20s at night. There was no wind, no bugs, and no other problems. With a small moon, we had a crystal clear night sky and could easily see the Milky Way. We imagined the hike would take us longer, but we made the 4.5 miles in about 2.5 hours. Only negative, we got seriously skunked fishing, but that isn’t new news for us.
