That went surprisingly well! People talk about this hike as being long and steep. Let’s be clear about what is considered steep and strenuous, 2,000 feet over 4 miles (500 feet per mile) is moderately strenuous at best. The hikes we do in Utah Valley are 750+ and closer to 1,000 feet per mile (Slate Canyon). Now that’s getting strenuous. We always feel like we’re “out of shape”, but it’s nice to have a long, relaxing hike. I got to spend 4 uninterrupted hours hiking in an old quaking aspen forest. Life does not get any better.
