Worst hike EVER! Unless you decide to hike this in winter, you WILL have more mosquitos then you’ve ever seen in your entire life…summed!! If you don’t believe me, check out all these reviews. If the mosquitos don’t kill you, the poison oak and poison ivy that is EVERYWHERE will. And if that’s not enough, you descend 1,600 feet in the first 1.5 miles (and bonus), you have to climb that to get out of the hell that is this hike. We hiked this in long pants, long sleeves, and floppy hats on a day that was warmer than 90ºF. I have never cried while hiking. I was sobbing. Couldn’t get away from the mosquitos. Couldn’t get away from the poison oak. I was hot, nauseous, and just wanted to give up. Several times I just curled up in a ball on the trail to catch my breath and hoped to God the mosquitos wouldn’t eat me alive. We drove home naked in our underwear (and bra). Our clothes, shoes, socks, and hats were burned.
